Happy Chuseok!

Chuseok is the Korean harvest (or harvest moon) festival, sometimes referred to as Korean Thanksgiving. It's one of two huge holidays on the Korean calendar, the other being lunar new year.  Normally, Chuseok is buffered by off-days on either side, and that's definitely the case this year: Chuseok day is on a Thursday, which means most of the country gets Wednesday and Friday off, thus giving everyone a five-day weekend. Sweet. Chuseok is family time in Korea; traditionally, this has meant that millions of people must spend time in fourteen-hour-long traffic jams as they pour out of Seoul to go back to their respective hometowns, but thanks to cultural changes and the pandemic, people these days are more likely to stay put.

Whether you're in Korea or outside of it, I wish you all the happiest of Happy Chuseoks. Enjoy time with those who are near and dear to you, and keep your fingers crossed, as 2020 winds down, that 2021 will be a much better year. If the fates allow.
